A Lovely evening
They were walking on the beach. Sun was about to
disappear in a few minutes and he knew it. He was looking at the peaceful waves
which were so powerful but calm. The sky was looking red and very pleasant
breeze was touching their bodies. She stopped for a moment but he didn’t
noticed. He was so involved in the waves.
“Naman, you are so selfish. You don’t care about
me.” She said in a low voice but he heard the words and he stopped. “Sheetal
was right, everything changes after marriage.”
Naman thought for a second and said, “Changes. What
changes?” He was afraid that he would miss the beautiful sunset.
“Look, we are not holding each other’s hands.”
Kavya said bravely but it was too difficult for her
to hide the running tears.
Naman looked away from her. He wanted to examine her
words. He remembered the day when he proposed her in front of her friends and
she refused immediately. He never tried to talk to her again till she started
first. It was that Russian play that became the platform for them to know each
other, spawn feelings for each other. Naman played the role of a shepherd and
Kavya acted as a goddess.
Kavya fell in love with him during their practise
sessions and this time she proposed him. They married after 2 years.
“I never knew how it happened. I thought I am
holding your hand.” Naman said in a soft voice. He wanted to watch the sun
disappearing and Kavya was standing on the opposite side. He wished if he had
two extra eyes at the back of his head.
Kavya knew that Naman was very depressed after the
death of his father but she always supported him. She stood with him at every
aspect of his life. She became the most important part of his life. But the
things changed, Naman became too busy because of his work. He got involved in
his official life so much. He stopped taking dinner at home so praising her
cooking skills is out of the question.
“Naman, it’s not simple. I know you are busy but
have you ever realised how much I need you. You don’t share anything with me.
It annoys me.” Kavya turned on the other side to wipe her tears.
Naman stood there silently. He tried to understand
the situation from her point of view. He felt something wrong is happening.
When we build so much walls, love hides
behind them.
The wave touched his feet and then hers. Naman gazed
at her and came nearer.
“I am sorry. I forgot our promises. Life was so
simple. I made it complicated. Kavya, look at me. Please.” Naman said in a
voice full of love and charm.
She turned towards him. He saw the tears generating
from her eyes and sliding down her beautiful cheeks. Naman wiped her tears but
said nothing. It was her turn. Kavya was feeling shy and a little bit scared
but she knew everything was calm.
“I am sorry too. I love you.”
Naman smiled and he stared in her eyes. He could see
the sun going down in the sea. He didn’t miss the sunset, he rather experienced
it. Kavya could feel the cold water on her bare feet and the shiver in her
body.
“I love you too, Kavya.” Naman said confidently and
happily. He smiled at her, looked down and smiled again. Kavya scratched his
head and they hugged.
“May I hold your hand, miss?” Naman asked in a
romantic tone.
“Ok let me think.” She enjoyed the moment, “Yep!”
Naman held her hand and they walked towards the sea.
Waves were silent and sun vanished leaving the dark red atmosphere. They
both walked silently.
